WE Protect Water Quality and Provide Information for
Community, Residents and Visitors.

We understand the impact our individual actions have on water quality and we take steps to minimize that impact on the lake. LQWA tries to inform the public through our web site and newsletters. Our newsletter is emailed to over 300 residents and businesses within the watershed communities of  Worcester, Shrewsbury and Grafton, Massachusetts. So far, 150 individuals, families and businesses have chosen to join LQWA! Their continuing generosity is crucial to sustain our newsletters, web site and educational programs.

A unique feature of Lake Quinsigamond is its special regulatory council created to govern the uses and abuses of its water. This distinction is shared with no other similar body of waters in the commonwealth. By the creation of this council, the State of Massachusetts recognized the special recreational characteristics of this lake. In 1916 a legislative act created the first Lake Quinsigamond Commission. This council was strictly an advisory body and therefore was largely ineffective. In 1936, Amendment Chapter 181 was adopted and other amendments followed creating the present day Lake Quinsigamond Commission. Its powers now cover any matter that directly or indirectly affects the waters of Lake Quinsigamond.
